GIVING THANKS
My husband Arnee, also known in some circles by his middle name Shep, has spent his entire life teaching. Teaching our children to be good people, teaching them to finish what they start, teaching them how to be the best possible spouse and parent, teaching students to be lawyers since 1985, teaching practicing lawyers how to master their skills, teaching listeners on the radio the nitty-gritty about countless jobs.
Recently, at a legal conference, a man came up to my husband and said, “You’re Shep Cohen, aren’t you?” With that, they determined that the man was my husband’s student at Rutgers Law School twenty years earlier, and he taught him, in the man’s words, “everything he knows about labor and employment law.” The man now practices that field of law in Southern California.
In 2005, my husband started the Hot Tips Seminar for New Jersey Labor Lawyers. He moderates the full-day sessions every June. There, he offers his colleagues 15-minute time slots to speak on the latest changes in the law. He draws the largest crowds in the profession to attend his sessions.
Listeners tune in weekly, Fridays at 4:00 pm eastern time, to hear the one hour of commercial-free radio, broadcast worldwide on www.wdvrfm.org They listen to the World of Work, hosted by Shep Cohen, where they are treated by my husband, a volunteer at the station for over 22 years, to engaging interviews of people from an endless stream of jobs, and all walks of life.
