FLEETING MEMORIES ~ TEACHING THE ARABESQUE

FLEETING MEMORIES ~ TEACHING THE ARABESQUE

From toddler to teenager, our daughter took weekly ballet lessons. Her arabesque was always my favorite pose to see her perform.

She was teaching the technique to her two grandmothers outside in front of the rose bush one day when I snapped a visual. Boy, am I glad that we have this photograph, which I keep out on display in our kitchen.

While we no longer have the rose bush or our mothers, we have the sweet memories of our daughter, now 30 and living across the country, center stage at age five. My husband and I spent many years enjoying the sandwich generation, and we’re having fun sharing the memories with our children.

Now that we’re the grandparents, we get to view life from a different perspective. Just as our mothers in the photo I snapped, we enjoy playing along as we watch our grandchildren blossom.

Take pictures. Nowadays, there’s no excuse not to. It’s so easy on the iPhones or Androids, one of which nearly everyone has at their ready. Don’t forget to share the memories for everyone to enjoy. Rest assured, future generations will especially appreciate them.
