CHARLES NEIDICH - CLARINETIST/COUSIN
Charles Neidich-Clarinetist/Cousin (see my blog post, Just who are/were our cousins, dated October 16, 2018) was on stage at Carnegie Hall on January 30, 2023. The son of a clarinetist and pianist, Charles definitely did practice, practice, practice. Just check his bio.
His grandmother walked down the aisle at our wedding in 1975. (See my blog post at sharonmarkcohen.com, “WHEN IS THE LAST TIME YOU LOOKED THROUGH PICTURES FROM YOUR WEDDING ALBUM?” December 20, 2022}.
Our nephew Bret (see my blog post, “Bret,” dated November 13, 1918), a musician himself, attended the recital in January at our suggestion and wrote, “Charles is a wonderful musician! His tone is beautiful, timing very precise and he plays with a warm heartfelt presence. I appreciated it very much.”
Our son Moss attended another performance with us. The date was in 2008 at Juilliard (see the booklet cover below). Cousin Trudy, z”l, brought us backstage after the recital to see her nephew Charles and meet the centenarian composer Elliot Carter.
Since we were out of town this time, we suggested Moss attend the performance by his world-renowned cousin. He commented afterward, “He put on a good show, very affable.”
As a youngster, Charles knew the family of his parent’s generation and their offspring, including Bret’s dad Jeffrey and my husband, Arnee.
Were other family members in the January audience? We need a reunion (we could play Name That Cousin!) and an encore. We yearn to see Charles perform again and be awed by his beautiful music. Maybe we could arrange group tickets for relatives and keep the connections going down through the generations.
